EPA Awards West Chester $12K For Food Composting Project
The U.S. EPA has awarded more than $12,000 to a unique green project at West Chester University.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- West Chester University has been awarded a $12,060 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to support a food composting project on campus.
The project will help both the university and the borough keep food scraps away from a landfill, the school said in a statement.
Using the money from the EPA, the university will partner with the borough and 10 local businesses to set up a year-long pilot composting project.

Partners will include restaurants, two senior living facilities, the Chester County Hospital, and Aramark, the university said.
Denise Polk, professor of communication studies and interim graduate coordinator at WCU, and Meghan Fogarty, sustainability coordinator for the Borough of West Chester, are coordinating the project.
