Exton Man Free On Bail In Backyard Slashing Case
Glenn Phillips is free on $100,000 bail on charges of slashing his neighbor with a folding knife during a June 15 dispute.
EXTON, PA — A 53-year-old Exton man was released from Chester County Monday after posting bail $100,000 bail on charges of slashing a neighbor in the neck with a folding knife, prison officials confirmed Wednesday.
Glenn Phillips, of the 500 block of Rennard Drive in the Exton section of Uwchlan Township, is accused of stabbing Charles Oswald in the neck and torso on July 15 in a dispute over property lines.
Phillips is awaiting a formal arraignment in the Chester County Justice Center.

District Judge Paige Simmons ordered Phillips held for court on Monday following a preliminary hearing on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related offenses. His bail was reduced from $250,000 to $100,000.
Police said Phillips stabbed and slashed Oswald with a folding knife causing significant injury during a fight in his yard.

Oswald was taken to Paoli Hospital, where he was treated for stab wounds. Oswald’s home on Biddle Drive is in West Whiteland Township.
Phillips’ attorney, Ryan Hyde of Exton, said this is a case of self-defense.
Hyde said the two were backdoor neighbors and have been arguing for years about trees and a fence between the two properties.
