Fall Workshop Series For Nonprofits To Build Chesco Leadership

The Chester County Community Foundation calls nonprofits back to school for fall workshop sessions on leadership topics.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Operating a nonprofit board of directors is not as easy as it looks, but there is help coming this fall from the Chester County Community Foundation.

The Foundation invites nonprofit board members back to school for the Board of Directors Workshop series every other Monday at 3:45 p.m. from Sept. 20 to Nov. 15 on Zoom. Topics range from legal issues and marketing to diversity and cybersecurity.

Developing an effective board is essential for the success of any high-impact nonprofit organization. It is vital to cultivate board members' understanding of all aspects of nonprofit leadership, the Community Foundation explained.

By joining the workshop, board members can better direct their nonprofit in achieving their mission, the Community Foundation said.

The Board of Directors Workshop is designed specifically for nonprofit board members and will explore a variety of topics geared towards helping nonprofits grow and thrive.

Sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Avoiding Legal Pitfalls, Sept. 20 led by L. Peter Temple, Esq., Don Lynn, Esq., and Emily Temple Abels, Esq.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and the Board, Oct. 4 led by Zeb Davenport, Ed.D., Timmy Nelson, and Marrea Walker-Smith.
  • Tech and Cyber Security: What the Board Needs to Know, Oct. 18 led by Erik Gudmundson.
  • What Donors Look for in Your Nonprofit Financials, Nov. 1 led by Louise Schorn-Smith, CPA and Kathy Wileczek, CPA.
  • Strategic Planning, Marketing & Fundraising: What’s A Board to Do? Nov. 15 led by Karen Simmons, Connie Carter, CFRE, and Krystine Sipple.
