Fire Destroys Parkesburg Duplexes Easter Morning
Six homes were destroyed and a firefighter, who was extricated from the second-floor room, was treated for minor injuries.
PARKESBURG, PA —An early Easter morning fire destroyed a row of six duplexes in the 100 block of Washington Street in the western Chester County borough of Parkesburg, according to multiple statements from fire officials.
The fire broke out at 2:30 a.m. Sunday and was contained within two hours and 40 minutes, according to fire officials.
A total of 22 residents were displaced at Parkesburg Borough Hall, and are being helped by the American Red Cross.

A firefighter from the Christiana Fire Company was trapped on the second floor of a home when the building collapsed. A mayday, emergency disaster, was sounded.
Christiana Fire Chief Zach Vandenbosch said in a prepared statement that the firefighter was extricated from the building within five minutes and taken to a local hospital.

“We are thankful to say that our firefighter sustained little to no injury due to the effective efforts before the collapse as well as the crews who worked to extricate them,” the chief said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A total of 75 firefighters were on the scene from Keystone Valley and Christiana fire companies.
Dunkin Donuts provided coffee and donuts for the residents. Councilman Dave Mellima brought Easter treats.
Gift cards are being collected for the victims at Parkesburg Borough Hall, 315 W. First Ave., Parkesburg.
