Guatemalan Refugee Sold $22K Worth Of Meth In Avondale Area: D.A.

AVONDALE, PA — A man wearing a Homeland Security ankle bracelet and who is a Guatemalan refugee sold methamphetamine on two occasions in Avondale, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office has charged Darinel Lucas-Gomez, 28, of Avondale, with possession with intent to deliver $22,000 in methamphetamine, along with related offenses.

Gomez allegedly sold methamphetamine on two occasions, one-eighth of an ounce on March 29, and six and a half ounces on March 30, the D.A.'s report said. He had another 11 ounces in his possession on March 30 at his Avondale apartment, law enforcement said.

Chester County Detectives said the drugs were valued at $22,000. Over $3,000 in cash was recovered also, according to the District Attorney's report.

The District Attorney's Office reported Gomez is a Guatemalan national who, when police arrived at his apartment on March 30, was wearing a Homeland Security Investigations ankle bracelet after recently crossing the border into the United States as a refugee.

Chester County Detectives and the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area unit (HIDTA) are the investigators.

Gomez is being held at Chester County Prison.
