Guide Rail Repair Will Close Lanes On U.S. 422 In Montco

Drivers should anticipate lane closures near U.S. 422 and Rt. 29 interchanges July 20-24 in Upper Providence Twp.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA —Lanes will close in two directions on sections of U.S. 422 next week as workers repair guide rails. Both eastbound and westbound traffic through Montgomery County will be affected near Rt. 29 interchanges in Upper Providence Twp. The closures start July 20.

Lane restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 422 beginning Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

The guide rail work locations and closures are:

  • Left lane closures on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Rt. 29/Phoenixville and Oaks/Audubon interchanges; and
  • Left lane closures on westbound U.S. 422 between the Rt. 29/Phoenixville and Royersford/Trappe interchanges.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, said PennDOT.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
