Health Inspections In West Chester Area Nov. 1-19

The Chester County Health Department inspects restaurants and businesses in the West Chester area.

WEST CHESTER, PA —Health inspectors paid visits to numerous establishments in the West Chester area this month.

Inspectors found some establishments to be in violation of health codes set by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

  • Grove United Methodist Church: 490 West Boot Road: one violation on Nov.17 for a missing cove base behind the refrigerator and freezer.
  • Ram’s Head Diner: 907 S. High St.: One violation on Nov. 17 for raw fish and beef ready in the refrigerator, dry wiping clothes found on a cutting board, boxes of raw potatoes stored in a shed, chlorine chemical sanitizer near the sanitizer rinse cycle, and broken equipment.
  • Holiday Inn Express and Suite: Wilmington Pike: One violation On Nov. 16: No sign or poster and the handwash sink to remind employees to wash their hands, and no certified food manager on staff.
  • Momo and Sushi Cafe: 209 E. Market St., nine violations on Nov. 15 for dumplings stored in the freezer with no cover, and food ingredients not labeled. Also, indoor temperature is not controlled, no sanitizer strips. kitchen materials left on the floor, the screen door torn, hand sink does not have single-use towels.
  • Gemelli Artisanal Gelato & Dessert Cafe: 12 W. Market St., three violations on Nov .14 for raw eggs stored above gelati ingredients, no sign to remind staff that hand washing sink is only to be used for handwashing.
  • Gramm’s Kitchen; 557 E. Gay St. On Nov, 14 one violation for nonthermometer for cold food.
  • Timothy’s West Chester, 929 S. High St., one violation on Nov.13 for an unused keg refrigerator in a bar.
  • Duck Donuts: 1353 Wilmington Pike, four violations on Nov. 9 for ice machine too icey, open bottle of lime juice out, and need to clean floors and drains.
  • 138 BBQ The Brickette Lounge: 1339 Pottstown Pike: six violations on Nov. 8 for dry goods not labeled, plastic bowls used as scoops, food with no dates, nonfood surface uncleaned, and leak at food prep sink.
  • D.F. Grocery: 332 Oak St. One violation on Nov. 3 Condiments not labeled, water off at hand wash sink, old water in bucket, need to replace ceiling tiles in three-compartment sink.
  • Boo Boo Cupcakes and More: 208 Carter Drive, one violation on Nov. 6, food labels not present.
  • Community Dinner@ Cornerstone Christian Fellowship: One violation on Nov. 3, cooler temperature stored 4 degrees higher than required.
  • Mangia Mobil, Church Street: one violation on Nov. 1. Use a test strip to ensure sanitizer is proper.
  • Mangia Mobile and Artisan Exchange, 208 Carter St., four violations on Nov. 2, need a thermometer to monitor food, need and sign for handwash sink, chemicals must be stored away from food, and no Chester County certified food manager present.
