PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A wandering hen is back with her owner on Friday and doing well, according to the helpful neighbor who took her in.

Cassidy Sanders, a vet tech assistant at Valley Veterinary Hospital, found the hen wandering in her Phoenixville neighborhood Thursday, injured. She said at first she thought the domesticated fowl was a rooster but decided the bird lost in Phoenixville is a hen.

Sanders cleaned the hen's wounds and then went about trying to find her owner.

She made a post on social media in hopes of finding the hen's home. "Hey, folks! I live at the corner of Marshall and Saint Mary's streets on the Northside and someone's hen found her way to my yard this morning."

The vet tech assistant reported Thursday, "She's terribly injured but I cleaned the wounds and am probably taking her to the vet today. Just wanted to put this out there so that I can find her owner and return her once she's healthy!"

Sanders said in the afternoon she was still looking for the hen's owner but by Friday morning word had circulated and the owner contacted Sanders on social media. Sanders said the owners "were missing her badly."

The day before she reported, "The hen is currently at Valley Veterinary Hospital where I work. We're cleaning her up and keeping her comfortable. Still no progress on finding her home," Sanders said.
