Isaias Leaves Trail Of Havoc, Incidents, Cancellation in Malvern

Travel was not safe on Tuesday in Chesco as trees and poles fell into roadways, power went out, and Malvern cancelled its council meeting.

MALVERN, PA — Downed wires, debris and flooding disrupted the day in Chester County communities as Hurricane Isaias passed across the mid-Atlantic and tracked north Tuesday.

As hundreds of thousands across southeastern Pennsylvania were left without power, communities dealt with the havoc. A pole leaning into a roadway created hazardous conditions as wires touched the ground on Griffith Avenue and W. King Street in Malvern Borough around 3 p.m. The incident was reported to PECO and to local police, who closed roads.

Widespread power outages and other conditions related to Tuesday's storm required Malvern Borough to cancel its evening council meeting, pushing all agenda items to its Aug. 18, meeting at 7:30 pm.

Chester County Department of Emergency Services reported poles, wires, and a transformer damaged on Horseshoe Trail at Horseshoe Point in Treddyffrin Township at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday.

Police assistance was requested for a fire at Phoenixville Pike and Charlestown Road in Charlestown Township, at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chester County Emergency Services.

Roadway flooding and a traffic incident that happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday created hazardous conditions at Schuylkill Road and Township Line Road in Phoenixville Borough, according to police.
