Juvenile Charged After Vehicle Disappeared In Kennett Square

A vehicle went missing from its driveway in Kennett Square, but a doorbell camera captured images of two males that led to charges.

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A 16-year-old is charged in Chester County after a vehicle disappeared from a Kennett Square driveway late last year.

Kennett Square Police officers said a theft was reported in the 700 Block of Wayne Avenue in Kennett Square Borough just before 6 a.m. on Nov. 19, 2020.

The victim said when they left their home in the morning they noticed one of their vehicles was no longer in the driveway. The victim had a doorbell camera and the theft was recorded on the device, police reported.

The video recording showed two unknown males running into the victim's driveway and backing the vehicle out of the driveway, according to police.

Officers were able to identify one male juvenile's identity and obtained other information placing him at the scene on the date and time of the vehicle theft, the report said.

Charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Engaging in Criminal Conspiracy, Receiving Stolen Property, and Loitering and Prowling at Night were filed with Chester County Juvenile Probation on June 8, 2021.
