Lighting Up West Chester

The borough's annual tree lighting and parade is back after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

WEST CHESTER, PA —The region’s famous-hometown West Chester Christmas Parade is back after being on a hiatus due to the pandemic.

The historic downtown district is decked out with the glow of thousands of twinkling lights during one of the most high-profile events in the borough.

Parade night kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 with the official lighting of West Chester’s 26-foot-tall Christmas tree on the lawn of the historic Chester County Courthouse.

At 7 p.m., parade-goers delight in award-winning floats with local flair by some of Chester County’s most creative designers and sparkling performances by hometown favorites including nationally recognized area marching bands.

Santa has agreed to make his much-anticipated appearance on his most adventurous float ever, a treehouse.

Presented by the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester is a month-long celebration featuring dozens of experiences to delight visitors from throughout the region.
