Man Accused Of Kicking Cop Charged With Assault In West Chester
West Chester police have charged a man with assault after a weekend incident in which police say the borough resident kicked an officer.
WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester man is charged with aggravated assault after police say he kicked an officer who responded to a reported disturbance over the weekend.
On Saturday, Jan. 16 around 4 p.m. officers arrived at a home in the 500 block of W. Miner Street. A person had been reported yelling from the front porch and causing a disturbance, police said.
West Chester Borough Police reported Nathaniel Hawthorne, 35, of West Chester resisted arrest and kicked one of the police officers who responded to the reported disturbance.

Hawthorne has been charged with aggravated assault on an officer, criminal mischief damaging property, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct engaging in fighting, and public drunkenness, according to police reports.
He is at Chester County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge William D. Kraut, according to court records. His bail was set at $10,000, the court docket said.
