Man Bought Gun 2 Weeks Before Family Murder-Suicide, Source Says
A West Whiteland Twp. man purchased a gun two weeks before the deaths of himself, his wife, and their two sons, a source has said.
WEST CHESTER, PA — The man found dead alongside his wife and two sons Sunday reportedly bought a gun two weeks before the murder-suicide event in West Whiteland Township that a police source has said used the purchased gun.
The Chester County District Attorney's Office has not issued a statement beyond saying the event is an "apparent murder-suicide" but the Philadelphia Inquirer today reported a law enforcement source said the man, Deepak Prabakhar Kulkarni, 50, had purchased a gun two weeks before. The same report cited the police source saying "the early indication is that Deepak Kulkarni, 50, used that gun to kill his wife, Arti Adya Kulkarni, 47, and their two sons, Shubham, 14, and Sharvil, 7."
The Chester County Coroner's office identified the family members Tuesday. All four were found dead in the basement of their townhome in the 100 block of Mountain View Road, police said.

Police said relatives contacted them around 12:33 p.m. on Jan. 24 that officers used a garage door opener from one of the family's vehicles to enter the residence, where they found the two adults and two children dead in the basement, the D.A. reported Monday.
West Whiteland Township police said the evidence at the home and an initial investigation indicated a murder-suicide, but have not confirmed the deaths were by shooting.
