Man In Chester County Prison Charged In Three-County Crime Spree

WEST GOSHEN, PA— A 22-year-old Philadelphia man is in Chester County Prison Wednesday charged in connection with a two-day crime spree that spanned three counties.

The crimes included a carjacking in Philadelphia, an attempted murder in Bucks County and an armed robberty in Chester County.

West Goshen police responded at 2:17 a.m. Monday to a report of a robbery that occurred at an Exxon station, 851 South High St., West Chester.

According to West Goshen police:|

  • A lone employee was approached by a man brandishing a black semi-automatic pistol and demanding money.
  • After removing an undetermined amount of cash from the store, the male exited and left in a silver 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and drove north on South High Street.
  • At 8 p.m. Sunday night, Philadelphia police reported Austin held a 41-year-old driver at gunpoint on Germantown Avenue, Nicetown, and sped off in a Malibu.
  • At 12:30 a.m. Monday, state police said, Austin fired gunshots at an elderly couple in Middletown, Bucks County.

According to court records, Austin had been scheduled to appear before a Philadelphia County judge on Dec. 20 for a status check on parole violation from a prior drug case.
