WEST CHESTER, PA — A 63-year-old Coatesville man was convicted Thursday in the Chester County Justice Center on aggravated assault and related charges for running over a pedestrian with his Hummer sport utility vehicle while intoxicated on July 10, 2021.
Randolph Green, 63, of Coatesville, was found guilty by a jury of aggravated assault, drunken driving, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses. He is in Chester County Jail awaiting sentencing.

“The defendant used his car as a death machine with no regard for the value of human life,” Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said Friday. “He taunted and threatened the victim, bumping him in the chest with the Hummer, and then ultimately followed through on his threats to run him over, seriously injuring the victim."
Ryan said the victim, who was not identified, is extremely fortunate that he is alive today.

Green had a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent. A person is legally intoxicated with a blood-alcohol of 0.08 percent, according to Pennsylvania law.
Green also admitted to police that he ran the victim over with his car after he consumed approximately four beers and several shots. He began drinking at 7 p.m.
The incident was captured on surveillance camera footage showing the defendant rapidly accelerating his vehicle in the direction of the victim, striking him in the chest. Green then backed his vehicle back into his driveway and turned it off.
Seconds later, while the victim was standing right in front of the vehicle, Green eased the Hummer to the edge of the driveway and rapidly accelerated to the right onto the curb area exactly where the victim was standing, striking him with the front of the Hummer and dragging him under the vehicle for several yards, causing serious bodily injury.
The victim was treated at Paoli Memorial Hospital for almost a week for numerous broken bones and a punctured lung.
