Man Sentenced In Chester Springs Home Invasion

A sentence of 20-40 years was handed to a man who pled guilty to zip-tying a family, holding them at gunpoint, and making off with money.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A man was sentenced to up to four decades in prison after admitting he broke into a home and held a family zip-tied at gunpoint, pistol-whipping their daughter and then made off with $1,600.

The Chester County District Attorney's Office said on Sept. 1 that Kor’ ran Smith, 24, was sentenced to 20-40 years in state prison for his role in a 2016 home invasion and armed robbery in Chester Springs.

Smith pled guilty to the crimes in December 2019.

Police said he and an accomplice broke into the victims’ home, pistol-whipped the home owner's 20-year old daughter, zip-tied the four occupants, and held them at gunpoint. Pointing a gun at the daughter and her cousin, he demanded that the parents choose "which one they liked better."

All four victims were left zip-tied and locked in a bedroom with a warning that another person was outside and would shoot if they tried to escape.

Smith and his accomplice got away with $1,600.

The 20-year old victim demonstrated incredible bravery, the District Attorney's Office said, by freeing herself, climbing out a window, and running across the roof to get help.
