CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Renown television personality Martha Stewart visited Longwood Gardens in Chester County recently, praising the distinctive history of the area and offering glowing reviews of the floral diversity on display at what was recently named America's best botanical garden.

Stewart wrote in her blog that she decided to stop at Longwood after filming a live TV appearance at nearby QVC in West Chester.

"Pierre (du Pont's) passion and vision created the groundwork for what is now Longwood Gardens - home to many spectacular botanical collections including nine-thousand species and varieties of plants spread across more than 1,100 acres - all wonderfully maintained by hundreds of employees, students and volunteers. I encourage you to visit the next time you're in the area," she wrote in her blog.

Stewart described the layout of the gardens and Longwood's many world-famous displays as "exquisite."

She took dozens of photographs during her visit, and her blog post is a sort of a photo collage of appreciation of some of Longwood's highlights. She also noted a few Longwood specimens which she has herself in her own estate, including Australian tree ferns.

"There is something to see in every corner," she said.

She also offered some advice to those who travel for work, as this side-trip to Longwood was technically a work trip.

"If possible, make the most of business trips and try to fit in visits to beautiful and interesting places in between meetings and events - I do," she added.

Longwood was once again named the best botanical garden in the United States in 2025 by USA Today. It has won several times in the past.

The gardens are located on 1001 Longwood Road in Kennett Square.
