Mom In Thanksgiving Beating In Serious Condition: West Chester Police
Son is in Chester County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing on attempted first-degree murder charges.

WEST CHESTER, PA —An 81-year-old mother is in Chester County Hospital Tuesday in serious condition being treated for injuries suffered during a Thanksgiving Day beating by her son, police said.
Dorothy Giffing was taken to the hospital on Thanksgiving by police, who responded to an initial call at 6:10 p.m. of a fall in the 300 block of West Ashbridge Street.
The victim’s son, Michael, 42, is in Chester County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing on attempted murder first-degree murder and related charges.

According to West Chester police, an investigation disclosed that the victim’s injuries were inconsistent with a fall.
Subsequently, Michael Giffing was arrested on Monday.
