New Jersey Man Convicted Of Indecent Assault At Lincoln University

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County jury convicted a 24-year-old New Jersey man of sexually assaulting a woman during 2021 homecoming events at Lincoln University in Lower Oxford Township.

Eric Jones of Newark was found guilty of indecent assault and related charges following a trial before Judge Nicole Forzato.

Lincoln University police were called to investigate a report of sexual assault on Oct. 17, 2021 on the campus of Lincoln University.

The victim told police that she attended homecoming activities and parties on campus the night before, consuming alcohol at the events, and returned home at 12:30 a.m. She said she was attempting to sleep when she heard the door slam and people entering the house.

The victim told police Jones, who was a boyfriend to one of the victims’ housemates, entered her room and asked for her phone number. She said that she Jones her phone number and then ended the interaction with the defendant.

However, the victim said, Jones began to kiss and touch her body, but the victim was unable to move or consent due to intoxication, according to the victim.

She was taken to Christiana Hospital in Delaware for an evaluation, officials said.

“This defendant violated the victim when she was incapable of consent,” District Attorney Deb Ryan said Monday. “She showed tremendous courage by coming forward, and we are thankful to our team of investigators and prosecutors for advocating for the victim throughout this case.”
