PA Narcotic Officers Association Awards Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police

The Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers' Association recognized Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police with a series of awards recently.

WESTTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department received accolades this week for a drug investigation that is helping reel in the big fish.

Investigative work that began in 2019 turned up evidence that could be used against drug dealers worldwide, and four local officers were recognized by a state law enforcement organization for their part.

The Pennsylvania Narcotics Officers Association honored the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department on Sept. 28 in award presentation ceremonies hosted locally. Multiple law enforcement departments and agencies had a role in the work that brought evidence against drug organizations with international ties.

One accused subject was indicated to have been operating a national drug operation with international ties. As a result of the investigation, over 22.7 kilos of MDMA, cocaine, ketamine, and other drugs were seized in the U.S., as well as various contraband and more than $42,994 in U.S. currency, Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department reported.

"This investigation provided evidence against some of the largest, more notorious Darknet MDMA and Ketamine dealers in the world," the Department said in an announcement. "Congratulations to the recipients on a job well done!"

Recipients of the award included Special Agent Michael Johnson of Homeland Security Investigations, Philadelphia; Det, Russell Weaverling of Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department; Officer Daniel Lemmon of West Whiteland Police Department, formerly with the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department; and Special Agent Kenneth Glenn of Drug Enforcement Administration, Philadelphia.

According to the Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers' Association, approximately 9,460 of Pennsylvania's 24,000 law enforcement officers are engaged in drug enforcement.

The mission of the Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers Association is to provide quality narcotics training to law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania, to ensure that each member is fully prepared and equipped to investigate narcotics offenses under safe and legal circumstances.

Member departments and agencies in Chester County are Alpha Enterprises, Inc., Chester County District Attorney, Coatesville, Downingtown, East Fallowfield Township, Kennett Square, PA State Police Troop J, Embreeville, South Coatesville, Tredyffrin Township, Uwchlan Township, West Goshen Township, West Pikeland Township, West Whiteland Township, and Westtown/East Goshen and Willistown Township police departments.
