AFTERNOON UPDATE: More 2,050 PECO Customers Still Without Power

PECO asks customers not to remove or touch downed wires as crews are out restoring power.

WEST CHESTER, PA —PECO crews are still working to restore electricity to 2,050 customers in the Philadelphia region who lost power due to ice falling onto power lines.

The majority of the customers without power, or 1,021 were reported in Bucks County.

This morning, more than 5,500 customers were without power.

Throughout last night, crews were out restoring power for 33,000 customers, PECO reports.

“A wintry mix of precipitation in the region is causing ice to fall on trees,” Michael Lauer, PECO spokesman said. “We have workers out all over the region.”

A timeframe for restoration of power for all customers is not yet available.

“Do not touch or remove downed wires,” PECO wrote in an emergency alert. “Consider all downed wires as energized and extremely dangerous."

Here are the most up-to-date number of customers still without power:

Bucks County: 1,021

Chester County: 571

Delaware County: 113

Montgomery County: 203

Philadelphia: 110

York County: 32

According to the National Weather Service, based in Mount Holly, NJ., sunny skies are expected this afternoon, with a high temperature forecasted at 46 degrees.
