Philly Man Accused Of Homicide-By-Vehicle in Chesco Crash

WEST CHESTER, PA —A 25-year-old Philadelphia man is in Chester County Prison on homicide-by-vehicle and related charges after crashing into a tree in a stolen car, resulting in the death of a passenger, police said.

Gordy Tate is awaiting a preliminary hearing on homicide-by-vehicle, fleeing police and other traffic related offense.

According to West Chester police:

Police were alerted on Oct. 1 that Tate was driving a stolen car treveling westbound in the 100 block of Chesnut Street.

When officer turned overhead lights on behind Tate's vehicle, Tate fleed and a high speed.

The vehicle traveled into the 800 block of West Miner Street, East Bradford Township, where it struck a tree, killing a passenger.

Police did not identify the passenger.
