Pielli, Chesco Democrat, Named Secretary Of House Judiciary Commitee

HARRISBURG, PA – State Rep. Chris Pielli, a Chester County Democrat, has been appointed secretary of the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee.

Pielli represents D-156, which consists of the borough of West Chester, and East Bradford, East Goshen and West Goshen townships.

The former Chester County Recorder of Deeds was sworn into office in January.

“I am incredibly grateful to our leadership to be appointed to this position,” Pielli said.“I look forward to working with Majority Chairman Tim Briggs and the rest of my fellow committee members to help ensure what is passed out of the House is truly just, equitable, and effective in helping people throughout the commonwealth.”

Sex abuse law

In its first order of business, the committee discussed bills related to the to suspend the statute of limitations to enable survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file civil actions.

The committee approved measures with identical language to bills that passed the House in a special session to provide suspend the statute of limitations to enable survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file civil actions.

The committee plans to hold public hearings on the issue.

Background

Pielli, an attorney who is licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, was also a court-appointed lawyer for guardianship matters. He worked in the Chester County Public Defender’s Office and several other law firms.

While serving in the U.S. Army, Pielli was a member of the JAG Corps as a legal specialist for six years.

He is a graduate of East Senior High School; Temple University, a bachelor of science in political science, and Temple University Beasley School of Law, a Juris Doctorate.
