Prescription Drug Disposal Set For Saturday In Chester County

Residents are urged to drop off unwanted drugs at locations throughout Chester County during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County’s Department of Drug & Alcohol Services is participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, April 22.

Temporary local sites for safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs are available Saturday.

In addition to the temporary sites coordinated by the DEA on Drug Take Back Day, Chester County has over 25 permanent disposal locations available every day.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22:

These sights are available:

  • Downingtown: Wegman's, 1056 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown
  • Tredyffrin Township: police station: 1100 Duportail Road, Berwyn.
  • Coatesville: Police station: 1 City Hall Place, Coatesville, PA 19320
  • Caernavon Township: Walmart, 100 Crossings Blvd, Elverson, PA 19520
  • Giant: 700 Nutt Rd, Phoenixville, PA 19460

Jamie Johnson, director of the Chester County department of drug and alcohol services, said opioid use disorders, as well as other substance use disorders, are still prevalent in Chester County.

“If you or a loved one are struggling with drugs or alcohol, help is available," Johnson said. "Drug and alcohol treatment and support services, which include 12-step meetings and other related supports, are available in Chester County regardless of insurance.”
