Pride Flag Will Fly At Chesco Justice Center During June
Chester County Commissioners issued a proclamation of June as Pride Month in Chester County and raised the Pride flag at the Justice Center.

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pride flag Chester County commissioners raised in front of the Justice Center in West Chester on Tuesday will fly for the rest of the month, in recognition of LGBTQ rights.
A proclamation accepted at the Commissioners' June 8 Sunshine Meeting acknowledged the contributions of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer members of the community, and recognized June as Pride month because of the historic 1969 Stonewall Inn resistance to discrimination.
It was accepted by Dawn Pratt, Vice President of the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County.

The County will fly the Pride flag at the Justice Center and the County's Government Services Center until the end of June. The Commissioners also recognized LGBTQ Pride Month with a proclamation in 2019.
This is the first time that the Pride flag has been flown at County-owned buildings, said Rebecca Brain, Communications officer for the Commissioners' Office.
The proclamation states that "Chester County is committed to diversity, social justice, equality and mutual respect as fundamental aspects of maintaining a healthy community, yet recognizes there is work to be done to ensure LBGTQ+ individuals do not face harassment, prejudice, or lack of equal protection."
