Saturday Permit Enforcement Coming to West Chester?

Weekend ticketing could soon be the new normal in permit area A.

If the borough’s parking committee has its way, Saturday ticketing could be coming to West Chester.

By a 2-1 vote, the committee has endorsed the idea of permit parking enforcement in Permit Area A on Saturdays, the Daily Local News is reporting. Enforcement hours are currently 8 a.m. to midnight from Monday through Friday.

“If you drove through parking permit zone A this weekend, there was not a space to be had for neither man nor beast,” resident Anne Carroll said at Monday’s meeting, according to the paper, explaining the problem the committee hopes to address with their recommendation.

Permit Area A, which mostly encompasses the southeastern region of the borough, includes the neighborhoods east of High Street and South of Miner Street.

The committee's recommendation comes a month after the results of a borough-wide survey on parking in downtown West Chester were released.
