Sex With 15-Year-Old In Chesco Results In Conviction For Virginia Man

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County jury convicted a 42-year-old Virginia man of sneaking a 15-year-old out of her West Bradford home and having sexual relations with the girl in his car on several occasions in September 2020.

Judge Analisa Sondergaard revoked bail for Shawn Taylor of Sterling, Va., after he was convicted by a jury of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and related charges.

Taylor is in the Chester County Prison awaiting sentencing.

After the verdict was rendered, District Attorney Deb Ryan said under Pennsylvania law it is unlawful to have sex with a child under the age of 16 if you are four or more years older.

“This defendant knew or should have known that the victim, in this case, was under 16,"' Ryan said.

According to state police:

  • On Jan. 16, Pennsylvania state police responded to a call for a missing for a missing person on Jan. 16, 2021.
  • They saw a 15-year-old getting into a car with a man carrying a ladder. They later seized the man's cell phone and the ladder.
  • The victim was transported by her family to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.
  • Police learned that the two met online on a website called Omegle and has sexual relations in the defendant’s vehicle. Taylor snuck the victim out of her bedroom using a ladder.

Police said the victim admitted to three separate incidents involving sexual intercourse with the defendant in his car at various locations in Chester County beginning in early September 2020, when the victim was 15 years old.
