West Chester Police Report Peaceful Resolution After Sheltering

West Chester Police asked residents along N. Everhart Street to shelter in place, but resolved the hours-long incident by 9:30 p.m. Monday.

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Police notified Borough residents at 9:30 p.m. Monday that an incident that spurred notice to shelter in place had been "peacefully resolved."

Borough residents in the 200 block of N. Everhart Street were told to shelter in place Monday at 6:42 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m. West Chester Police reported, "the incident remains active."

By 9:30 p.m. Monday Police sent out notifications that the situation was resolved.

During the three-hour incident, the Department issued a notice that it was handling a "police-related incident" in the area and said that roadway around the 200 block of N. Everhart Street had been closed.

Police said at 6:42 p.m. there was no immediate threat to the public. Just under two hours later they issued the notice to continue sheltering in place in the area, then announced the resolution of the situation around 9:30 Monday night.

Police said an investigation will continue and they would release more information promptly.

"We thank everyone for their patience, support, and assistance," a Police Department social media post said.
