Small Plane Lands In Chesco Field After Striking Power Lines

The single-engine plane landed in a Chester County field Wednesday afternoon after it struck power lines near New Garden Airport.

NEW GARDEN TOWNSHIP, PA - A single-engine plane landed in a Chester County field Wednesday afternoon after it struck power lines near New Garden Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

TheAerostar Yak-52 struck a power line during its descent at the airport in the Toughkenamon section of New Garden Township around 1:15 p.m., an FAA spokesperson told Patch. Two people were on board at the time.

The power line was torn down across Newark Road; a subsequent small fire was extinguished by the Avondale Fire Company, WDEL reported. No injuries were reported, though the impact of the landing ripped off half of a propeller blaze and hit a nose cone, the outlet added.

PECO told 6abc that more than 130 customers were without power following the landing.

The FAA is currently investigating the incident.
