“There are a million reasons we need a smile each day—obstacles, isolation, illness, uncertainty and more,” said Metzker. “We aim to add to the list of reasons to smile.”
West Chester Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste said the art serves as a reminder that everyone is loved.
“For all the students who might be nervous at the start of the school year, and the parents, caregivers, teachers and bus drivers who are wondering what this year will bring, we’re sending out our very best wishes,” the mayor said.
“Let this art remind you that you are loved and lifted up even when words aren’t sufficient. We care about you and you’re gonna be great.”
The staff of Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center participated in the parade. The flower bike and artwork will be displayed at Uptown, 226 N. High St., for several weeks.
