Strangulation Charges Follow Threat To Kill Victim: Police
A Chester man faces multiple charges after police allege he assaulted and strangled a woman, then threatened to kill her.

NEW GARDEN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Chester man accused of strangling a woman during an argument in a New Garden Township home told the victim — as he was being taken by police — that he would kill her when he got out of jail, according to a police report.
Jorge Mondragon-Alvarez, 29, of Chester, has been charged with strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct, according to a police report. Court documents show that among the charges, the only felony is strangulation.
Southern Chester County Regional Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance on Tuesday at 3:38 a.m. in the 100 block of Pine Street, in New Garden Township. Upon arrival, police reported they noticed significant bruising on the victim's arms and knees.

The victim told police that during an argument, Mondragon-Alvarez threw her to the floor, placing his knees on her chest and hands around her throat, causing her to struggle to breathe.
According to the report, Mondragon-Alvarez then slapped her multiple times and punched her in the side of the head. According to the police report, he punched walls in the residence and smashed the victim's phone.

Mondragon-Alvarez was taken into custody and told the victim he would kill her upon his release from jail, police reported.
Bail was set at $50,000, according to court documents. A police report said he has failed to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
