Chesco Man Sentenced To 114 Years For Strangling Woman

WEST CHESTER, PA — A 44-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday in the Chester County Justice Center to 57 to 114 years in state prison for assaulting and strangling two former girlfriends.

Marcus Cole of Coatesville was convicted by a jury in a trial before Judge Lou Mincarelli of aggravated assault in the strangulation of a woman with a belt in August 2022 in Coatesville.

He also pleaded guilty to strangling another woman in July 2020 in West Whiteland Township.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said Cole caused the victims to fear for their lives.
“The community is now safer because of this significant sentence,” District Attorney Deb Ryan said.

The cases

Cole was convicted by a jury on July 21 of strangulation, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and related charges.
A Coatesville woman testified before a jury that Cole ripped her dress off and strangled her around the neck with a belt on Aug. 15, 2022. Police said they observed injuries on her neck.

Cole pleaded guilty on July 17 to charges of aggravated assault and strangulation involving another woman in West Whiteland Township on July 13, 2020.

West Whiteland police said a woman reported that Cole grabbed her hair, lifted her off the floor, and jammed his hand in her mouth. She said he then wrapped a towel around her neck and threw her down the stairs.

Police said they spoke to the woman victim about the assault while she was in Bryn Mawr Hospital being treated for injuries. The victim told police that believed that Cole was going to kill her.
