Sunoco Pipeline Free Water Test Sign-Up Deadline In PA Is Friday

The free water testing is part of an agreement between PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro and the pipeline to ensure water quality is safe.

SOUTHEASTERN, PA —Friday is the deadline to sign up for a free water test to determine if your water is contaminated from the construction of Mariner East 2 Pipeline, which crosses through 23.6 miles in Chester County and 11.4 miles in Delaware County.

The free water tests are part of a settlement between Attorney General Josh Shapiro and the Sunoco Pipeline L.P. a subsidiary of Energy Transfer, L.P.

So far, over 150 Pennsylvania residents have reportedly contacted their office for their water tests, according to a news release from Shapiro’s office.

There is no distance requirement from the Mariner East 2 pipeline for residents seeking a water test.

Sunoco Pipeline agreed to pay $442,500 to establish a fund for the creation and operation of a homeowner well water supply grievance program to evaluate water supplies.

An independent, professional geologist will review water testing and advise on water quality and impact.

The panel of three professional geologists will be announced by the Office of Attorney General next week.

Energy Transfer entered a no-contest plea Aug. 5 on the day the company’s preliminary hearing was scheduled in Dauphin County Court of environmental crimes.

The plea also included issues related to the Revolution Pipeline, a 42.5 mile pipeline in Beaver and Allegheny counties.
