ON TAP: Favorite Breweries In Downingtown

Craft breweries and the pubs that serve them have been trending for a long time with no slow down predicted in Chester County.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Brewpubs have been trending for a long time and there's no slowing in sight, as craft beer continues to be a business staple in Downingtown, where Victory Brewing is a flagship of the industry and other respectable servers of great beers are open for business.

Downingtown is home to other brewpubs, like the Station Taproom at 207 W. Lancaster Ave. Its Bottle Room is now open for dining in, and its online On Tap menu lists 16 brew varieties.

Beware the Olive Barrel Aged Speed of Darkness, a barrel-aged imperial stout served up at 10.5 percent alcohol.

Lighter beer palates might appreciate the Troegs Sunshine Pils or East Branch Brewing Company Oddwise, an English pub ale. Both weigh in at 4.5 percent.

Porter lovers can try the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald that won't sink you at 6 percent.

The Tired Hands Bottle Room Blend is a three-Saison blend, at 6 percent alcohol.

Also interesting at Station Taproom is a tequila-barrel aged Foudre Fermented Saison with Meyer lemon and basil, under the name Free Will Not Kate.

Victory Brewing at 410 Acorn Lane in Downingtown is rolling out new craft hard seltzers on Sunday, May 9. The "Victory Waves" event will offer $4 cans of hard seltzer, and since it's Mother's Day, all moms will receive one free Waves to pair with their meal at the taproom.
