The End of an Era: Beloved Chester County Store Closes

Customer asks family 'Where will I go now?"

After 75 years and four generations of ownership, care and service by members of one family a landmark Chester County business is now out of business.

Sunday at 6 p.m. marked the end of Waterloo Gardens service to the community.
"A place like this just draws people," Lucy Leboutillier explained to Patch on Saturday as she closed the store for the evening. "One longtime customer asked me the other day:'where are we going to go to feel better?' That's the part that gets me."

Lucy's husband, Bobby LeBoutillier is the third generation of family owners at Waterloo Gardens, which was originally opened by Bobby's grandfather James Paolini.

What's left now is for commercial buyers to come into the closed-to-the-public store in Whitford Road in Exton until Friday to purchase display cases, heavy tools, vehicles and virtually anything that's left behind.
