Transforming Parking Spots Into Parks In West Chester
The Park(ing) Day Global Initiative aims to turn parking spaces into temporary parks, raising awareness for public space.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Chester County's Classic Towns is hosting a unique event to raise awareness for public space in several local municipalities, including Phoenixville.
During Parking Day, citizens take a parking space in town and turn it into a temporary mini public park. The day is part of a global initiative challenging citizens to reevaluate the way they see public spaces and how they can be utilized
The West Chester event will take place on the northwest corner of Walnut and Gay Streets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce will partner with The Fence Authority, Kati Mac Florist, the Brandywine Ace Hardware, and Tom Comitta and Associates to create the space.
