West Chester Area Ballots Ready For Election Day: Find Info Here
Races in the West Chester Area School District cover seven municipalities, so see who's on your ballot ahead of Nov. 2.
WEST CHESTER, PA — The 2021 Municipal General Election is coming up quickly and ballots are ready for the vote in West Chester and the seven municipalities in the West Chester Area School District.

West Chester Area School District has more than 12,000 students and serves about 4,000 non-public students in the 75 square miles the District covers in Chester County. The district is comprised of West Chester Borough and the surrounding townships of East Goshen, West Goshen, East Bradford, West Whiteland, Westtown, and Thornbury in Chester County, as well as Thornbury Township in Delaware County.
In the West Chester Area School District, there are three Regions represented on the Board of School Directors.

Region 1 includes West Chester Borough and parts of West Goshen Township. Listed on Region 1 ballots are incumbent Joyce Chester, a Democrat who's served on the WCASD Board for eight years, and challenger Ada Nestor, a Republican.

Region 2 includes East Goshen and West Whiteland townships. Candidates for the open Region 2 Board seat are Democrat Karen Fleming and Brian R. Gallen, a Republican.

Region 3 includes East Bradford Township and Thornbury township in Chester County, as well as Thornbury Township in Delaware County, Westttown Township and parts of West Goshen Township. View a map of those regions here. This map shows the District and its municipalities.
Four candidates are listed on Region 3 ballots for two open seats. The Democratic candidates are Laura Detre and Carrie R. Stare.

Current WCASD Board President Chris McCune is on the ballot as a Republican. Stacey Whomsley, a Republican, is the fourth candidate listed in Region 3.

Mayor of West Chester Borough
Three candidates are listed in the race for Mayor of West Chester Borough. Democrat Lillian DeBaptiste runs against Libertarian candidate Beth Ann Rosica and Eric R. Lorgus, an Independent whose party is listed as "Liberty for All."

West Chester Borough Council
Democratic candidates are listed in West Chester Borough's 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th wards, but none of those races are contested. Lisa Dorsey runs in the 7th Ward, Sheila Vaccaro in the 5th Ward, Brian J. McGinnis in the 3rd Ward, and Patrick McCoy in the 1st Ward.

Another way to locate your polling place is the County's interactive map, here. When you find the blue landing page, read the instructions and click "OK" on the bottom right corner of the page, then be ready to put in your street address and town. You'll find your polling place on a map.
The County Boards of Elections must receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots by 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Military and overseas absentee ballots must be submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 1 and then must be received by the Board of Elections by Nov. 9.

Other Races On Your Ballot
Candidates for Chester County offices that appear on all County municipal ballots include: the race for County Coroner, with Democrat Sophia Garcia-Jackson running against Republican Frank Speidel; County Controller with Democrat Margaret Reif running for re-election against Republican Regina Mauro; Treasurer candidates Patricia A. Maisano, a Democratic running against Republican Jennifer Nicolas. Also, Chester County Clerk of Courts candidates are Democrat Yolanda Van de Krol and Republican Carmela Z. Ciliberti.
Candidates for Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice are Maria McLaughlin, a Democrat, and Kevin Brobson, a Republican. The race for Superior Court Judge is between Democrat Timika Lane and Republican Megan Sullivan.
Again, preview your ballot here, scrolling the alphabetical list to find your municipality. If municipalities begin with "East" or "West" they are alphabetized by the second word. For example, East Goshen Township would appear under G.
