West Chester Area SB To Vote Tonight On Move To Hybrid Plan

WEST CHESTER, PA — A vote on moving into hybrid instruction is on tonight's agenda for the West Chester Area School Board of Directors, a move likely to pass and begin Oct. 13.

Following the guidance of the Chester County Health Department in late August, WCASD did like other districts in Chester and Delaware counties, and began the year in all-virtual instruction.

That decision has proven unpopular with many parents who made their opinion known in letters to the board and some in public demonstrations recently. But there are not a few parents who wish to have their children learning remotely, and the board's plan includes an option to remain in remote learning.

If the plan is approved this evening, parents will respond to a survey in the first week of October to let the district know if their family chooses to remain in remote learning.

The return to school will be in a staggered model, meaning not all grades will arrive back on the same day, and the hybrid instruction model means not all students are in school on any given school day.
