West Chester Area School District Is Rated #8 In PA For Sports
Niche, based in Pittsburgh, provides ratings for school districts across the nation.

WEST CHESTER, PA—West Chester Area School District ranked number 8 out of 495 school districts in Pennsylvania for sports, according to the 2023 rankings provided recently by Niche, an educational platform, headquartered in Pittsburgh.
The district received an overall grade of A+. The district covers the West Chester borough, and East Goshen, West Goshen, East Bradford, West Whiteland, Westtown, and Thornbury.
The district has 11 elementary schools, and an early Learning Center, three middle schools and three high schools.
The district has an estimated 12,095 students.
According to the state test scores, 74 percent of the students are at least proficient in reading and 56 percent in math. The district offers AP classes and gifted programs.
Niche said in a report that the rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

Overall, the district earned an A+ in academics and college prep. The district received an A in teachers and an A in administration.
West Chester earned an A in clubs and activities, a B in diversity and food and a B in resources and facilities.

The district ranked 25 out of 495 districts for the best school district in Pennsylvania and 87 out of 496 for the best places to teach.
The district has a 15:1 student/teacher ratio.

It also includes input from students, alumni, and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources, and facilities.
