West Chester Climber Teaching Mountaineering Class

Jim Beckerich has seen the top of the mountain, and it is good.

Jim Beckerich has scaled Machu Picchu in Peru, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the official base camp of Mt. Everst. Now he's come home to West Chester.

Starting Wednesday, borough resident Beckerich will be teaching a four-session seminar on how mountain climbers prepare for expeditions. The classes, held at Rustin High School, will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Wednesday between April 3 and April 24.

According to a piece Patch user Catherine Quillman wrote on Beckerich, the course will cover climbing topics ranging from training tips to getting the right pre-trip medical tests.
