West Chester Law Firm Named Small Business of the Year

A West Chester law firm is lining up for an award.

Gawthrop Greenwood, PC has been named the recipient of the Small Business of the Year Award by the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry. 

The award will be presented on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Chamber’s annual Small Business Dinner: A Salute to the Spirit of Free Enterprise, 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center, 1 Liberty Blvd. in Malvern, PA.

The Small Business of the Year Award honors one business that epitomizes entrepreneurship, leadership, and success. After reviewing the nominees, the Chamber’s Small Business Advisory Committee, a group of volunteers comprising professionals and business owners in the area, determined that Gawthrop Greenwood best exemplified all these characteristics.

“What really impressed the committee was Gawthrop Greenwood’s demonstrated ability to adapt and overcome challenges throughout its long history, expanding while other business were downsizing,” says Patrick Hayakawa, Small Business Program Manager, Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry.

Gawthrop Greenwood was established in 1904 by Robert S. Gawthrop and has maintained offices at 17 East Gay Street in West Chester since 2004. The firm has produced six judges (including the county’s first female judge), nine presidents of the Chester County Bar Association, and dozens of prominent lawyers, and became the first law firm in Chester County to elect a woman as chair of its management committee.
