West Chester Man Accused Of Carjacking And Assaulting An Officer

Other suspects were charged with possessing an illegal weapon, retail theft, resisting arrest and more.

WEST CHESTER, PA —A 33-year-old West Chester man was charged with stealing a vehicle and attacking the driver Saturday and later striking a police officer in the face at Chester County Hospital, police said.

Michael G. Anderson is free on $50,000 bail after being arraigned before District Judge Albert Iacocca on charges of robbery of a vehicle, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.

Anderson cut off another driver just before 8 a.m. when driving west on the 100 block of Gay Street. He got out of his car, attacked another driver, stole his vehicle, and damaged the vehicle.

The suspect then approached a bystander, shoved the bystander standing near a vehicle, opened the vehicle’s door, and attempted to steal the vehicle.

When police arrived, Anderson resisted arrest and later struck an officer in the face at Chester County Hospital.

Police also arrested these suspects:

  • Mohammad Khan, 27, of Upper Darby, is free on $10,000 bail awaiting a preliminary hearing on a charge of possessing an instrument of crime without a license in West Chester. Police said he had a concealed firearm that had a revoked permit on April 5 on Brandywine Street, near Barnard Street.
  • Mikaiyah Freeman, 18, of West Chester is free awaiting a preliminary hearing on a retail theft charge. Police said Freeman left the Giant Food Store, 688 Downingtown Pike, without paying for 15 items valued at $178 on Tuesday, April 4.
  • Chidingozi Chikezie, 20, of York is free on $1,000 bail after being arrested on retail theft, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Police said she stole items from the Giant Food Store, 698 Downingtown Pike, West Chester at 2:17 p.m. on Friday, April 7, and then kicked over a display om the store and resisted being arrested.
  • Oscar Uduma, 20, of Folcroft, Delaware County, is free on $75,000 bail on charges of robbery, simple assault, and theft. Police said he entered a residence in the 300 block of West Bernard Street, got into a fight, and took a cell phone at 2:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4.
