West Chester Man, World War II Vet, Passes At 97

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester E. Bishop Sr., 97 of West Chester, PA died Wednesday May 3, 2017.

He was the husband of the late Louise Gelzins Bishop.

Born May 19, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Reuben Bishop and the late Adelaide Dunkley Bishop.

He served in the US Army during World War II.

Chester had worked as a Draftsman for Clifton Precision Products. He was an avid tennis player playing for many years. A favorite pastime of his was model trains and woodworking. He was very handy and could fix just about anything.

He is survived by his son, Chester E. Bishop Jr; daughter, K. Sue Buie; step-daughters, Mary Catherine Green and Frances Conwell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen J. Bishop, Jr., Robert Bishop, Patti Bishop, Brian D. Green and Kevin J. Green.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen J. Bishop, Sr. and his first wife Katherine Fullaway Bishop.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service Wednesday May 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Cemetery, 689 Sugartown Rd, Malvern, PA 19355.
