West Chester Mom Left 3 Children Alone As She Overdosed: Police

A mother who West Chester police say left her 3 children home alone and was overdosed a few blocks away faces child endangerment charges.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A mother of three left her young children home alone as she was elsewhere and overdosed on drugs, according to police.

Emily A. McKee, 33, of West Chester is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of children after she allegedly left her three children at home unsupervised and was found overdosed by police on March 27.

West Chester Police answered a call about a disturbance in the 100 block of E. Gay Street around 11:45 p.m. that night and reported finding three young children alone in a home when they arrived.

According to the police report, officers found the mother of the children in the 100 block of W. Gay Street "experiencing a drug overdose."

Police reported their investigation found McKee had used controlled substances prior to overdosing and had left the children unsupervised.

McKee turned herself in at the West Chester Police Department on the morning of May 13, police said.

McKee was arraigned before Judge Marian T. Vito in Chester County District Court 15-1-04. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25.

Court documents state McKee has posted bail of $10,000.
