West Chester police arrested suspects for drunken driving, child endangerment assault and related charges in October.
WEST CHESTER, PA —West Chester police arrested suspects on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, assault, burglary and drunken driving, including a planned DUI checkpoint on Oct. 21.
- Edward J. Heaton, 33, of Coatesville, and Anna Victoria Ford, 33 of Kennett Square are free awaiting preliminary hearings on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and public drunkenness. Police said Heaton and Ford were walking along North New and West Minor streets showing signs of impairment on Oct. 28 with a one-month old attempting to find their car.
- Edgar Gonzalez, 55, of West Chester is free on $10,000 bail awaiting a preliminary hearing after being arrested on Oct. 30 in the 500 block of West Marshall Street on a simple assault charge stemming from a domestic incident.
- Gabriel Short, 26, of Coatesville is in Chester County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail on burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. Police said he entered a residence in the 100 block of West Market Street at 9:25 p.m. on Oct. 22 and stole unidentified items.
- Sergio Chavez-Gayton, 36, of Coatesville was arrested on a charge of drunken driving at 2:51 a.m. in the 700 block East Market Street.
DUI Checkpoint
West Chester police ran a DUI checkpoint on Oct 21 in the 600 block of East Market Street.
A checkpoint is a well-market stationary road block for police to check drivers for intoxication. In Pennsylvania, the legal blood-alcohol limit is 0.08%.

According to police records, these suspects were charged with drunken driving:
- Michael J. Tres, 19, of Drexel Hill, Delaware County
- Stephen A. Sheller, 21, Glen Mills, Delaware County
- John C. Bowser, 22, Parkesburg, Chester County
- Patrick J. Montone, 36, Ardmore, Montgomery County
