West Chester Soccer Battles For National Championship On Saturday

West Chester men's soccer will play in NCAA D2 National Championship game this Saturday.

WEST CHESTER, PA — They're one win away.

West Chester men's soccer will play in the NCAA Division II National Championship game this weekend. It's West Chester's first trip to the game in program history.

They'll face off Barry University, from Miami Beach, Florida, on Saturday at noon. The game will be held in Pittsburgh at Highmark Stadium.

West Chester's run to the finals comes on the heels of a 16-2-5 season, which saw them earn a ranking of number 23 in the nation.

They've quickly outpaced even that impressive accomplishment, defeating a bevy of heavily favored opponents: 16th ranked Notre Dame (Ohio), 3rd ranked Charleston, and 9th ranked Adelphi to advanced into the Final Four.

They defeated Cal Poly Pomona this week in an overtime thriller, 2-1, to advance to the championship. They'll face another squad that's beaten better ranked opponents in Barry, who came into the tournament ranked 20th in the nation.

For fans of the Golden Rams who can't make it to Pittsburgh, Barnaby's in West Chester is holding the official National Championship Watch Party.
