WEST CHESTER, PA—This January, West Chester spotlights National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month with a column of blue light on Borough Hall.
“Blue light represents the sorrow of victims and the frozen hearts of traffickers," Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste said. "It also honors the work of law enforcement who work to bring justice to victims of human trafficking, which is a form slavery.”
President Barack Obama first proclaimed January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness Month, including Jan. 11 as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, in 2012.
