West Chester's Andiario Lauded By Philly Food Critic

West Chester's Andiario was among the 10 best restaurants in Greater Philadelphia identified a Philly food critic.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester restaurant was recognized as one of the best in the Philadelphia area in a recent critic's review.

West Chester's Andiario was one of food critic Craig Laban's top 10 picks in a post-pandemic shutdown review of the Greater Philadelphia restaurant scene. The 10 chosen were not rated beyond that, as the critic pointed to the numerous challenges 2020 and 2021 have heaped upon the dining industry.

The fine-dining eatery at 106 W. Gay St. in downtown West Chester serves 24 guests at a time under a tight, in-demand reservation schedule. Andario offers pre-fixe dinners created to celebrate the bounty of Pennsylvania produce, the restaurant's website explains.

Its menu is new every weekend. The menu at Andiario is " inspired by the season, the best product available, and our pantry."

Reservations are in demand as the restaurant opens for indoor dinners Thursdays through Saturdays in October at $75 per person. Party size is limited to six.

Andiario offers a wine list along with some beers and cocktails, and wine pairings with each dinner, though costs for that vary. The restaurant also said it welcomes BYOB for wine only, with a $25 corkage fee per bottle.

Laban's review described his recent adventures into the pandemic restaurant landscape from which he identified a top 10. "As I set out to redefine the best in Philly dining right now with this Top 10, I visited dozens of restaurants old and new. Given that more than half these are new projects since my last list, a Top 25 just before the pandemic, it's clear I've found a very different landscape — far more casual, often bubbling outside with al fresco dining, but just as thrilling on the plate."

Andiario emerged as one of the best. It describes itself as "a 24-seat, award-winning, restaurant in the heart of Chester County, Pennsylvania. We strive for elegance in simplicity, with an emphasis on regional ingredients, warm knowledgeable service, a thoughtful beverage program, and exceptional food."

The restaurant asks that anyone with dietary restrictions let them know in advance. Parties larger than four should call 484-887-0919 to reserve.
