CHESTER COUNTY, PA —West Whiteland firefighter Colin Reedy died Friday night when his department vehicle struck a tree while responding to an emergency call, fire department officials said.

“We ask that you keep the families of both firefighters and our members in your thoughts and prayers at this time,” the fire department said in a statement.
Rick Carkner, Reedy's uncle, described Reedy in a Facebook post as the kindest, most generous, self-sacrificing, happiest, strongest, and one of the most positive souls he has ever met. He said that the two bonded over an interest in cars.
