Westtown Grad Cam Reddish Selected 10th Overall In 2019 NBA Draft
The Atlanta Hawks made Cam Reddish the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft Thursday night.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Norristown native and Westtown School graduate Cam Reddish is officially in the NBA. The local basketball star was selected with the 10th overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft.
Reddish, 19, played his freshman year last season at Duke University before declaring for the draft. Experts predicted he would be taken somewhere around the top 10.
"What a special night," Reddish wrote on Twitter following the pick. "Such a dream come true. Honored to be drafted and ready to get to work."

Reddish was one of three former Duke players to be taken in the top 10 of the draft. As expected, potential superstar and consensus number one prospect Zion Williamson was taken first overall by the New Orleans Pelicans. And shooting forward RJ Barrett was taken third overall by the New York Knicks.
The local star will have the chance to play on a team suddenly packed with young talent. The Hawks also had the eighth overall pick, which they used to take Texas center Jason Hayes. They promptly packaged Hayes and a few other picks to get the fourth overall pick, De'Andre Hunter, a shooting forward out of Virginia.

Though the Hawks finished an abysmal 29-53 in 2018-19, Reddish and Hunter will join 2018's fourth overall pick Trae Young, as well as 20-year-olds John Collins and Kevin Huerter to form an imposing young core in Atlanta.

The Sixers, meanwhile, picked NCAA champion and Final Four hero Ty Jerome, out of Virginia, with the 24th overall pick. They promptly packaged him, along with their 33rd pick, in a trade involving the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns. It ultimately landed them the 20th overall pick, point guard Matisse Thybulle. A 22-year-old out of Washington, the Sixers surely hope the mature Thybulle can help bolster their bench immediately.
Reddish joins a long roster of stars from southeastern Pennsylvania who have made it to the highest level of the game, including Philadelphia native and 2019 NBA champion Kyle Lowry.
